This stratovolcano is 5,592 meters high and is the most active volcano in the region. Visitors can hike to the summit of the volcano, although it is recommended to hire a guide given the high altitude and challenging conditions.

How to get there

The climb starts near the community of Talabre, about 67 km south of San Pedro. Due to the challenging nature of the high-altitude climb - and important precautions that must be taken when climbing an active volcano - it's recommended to only climb as part of a guided tour
